End of Summer Grilling and What to Freeze Before Fall

Stittsworth Meats·August 31, 2020·3 min read

Summer's ending, and on this episode of Meat & Greet, Myke Stittsworth talks about two things: squeezing the last great grills out of the season and stocking your freezer before fall hits.

Freezing meat the right way means you'll eat well all winter without paying peak prices. Myke shares how to wrap, label, and organize your freezer like a pro — plus which cuts freeze best and how long they'll keep.

Freezer Stocking Tips

  • Best cuts for freezing: ground beef, brats, steaks, and roasts
  • How to wrap meat to prevent freezer burn
  • Labeling system: date, cut, and weight on every package
  • How long different cuts last in the freezer

🍖 Recipe: Stittsworth Freezer-Ready Burger Patties with Seasoning

Pre-made, seasoned burger patties that go straight from freezer to grill. Perfect for meal prep and quick weeknight dinners.

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs Stittsworth Ground Beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup whole milk
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Parchment paper

Instructions

  1. Combine Stittsworth Ground Beef, breadcrumbs, milk, garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika in a large bowl. Mix gently until just combined.
  2. Divide into 8 equal portions and form into patties about 3/4-inch thick. Make a slight indent in the center of each with your thumb.
  3. Place each patty on parchment paper, separating layers with additional parchment.
  4. Freeze on a flat tray for 2--3 hours until solid.
  5. Transfer frozen patties to a freezer bag, keeping parchment between layers. Label with date and contents.
  6. Frozen patties will keep for up to 3 months. Cook from frozen on a hot grill for 5--6 minutes per side.

Pro Tip: The breadcrumbs and milk bind the burgers without making them dense, and the slight indent prevents bulging as they cook. Stittsworth Ground Beef's quality means you don't need fillers -- a light hand here is key.
